Three Ways to Take Back Your Florida Backyards, Patios, and Lanais

August 25, 20243 min read

Florida's outdoor living spaces are an extension of our homes, offering a perfect setting for relaxation, entertainment, and family gatherings. However, the intense Florida sun and unpredictable weather can make it challenging to fully enjoy these areas. Fortunately, there are three practical solutions to take back your Florida backyards, patios, and lanais: awnings, pergolas, and retractable screens.

1. Awnings: Versatile and Stylish Sun Protection

Awnings are a fantastic way to provide shade and protect your outdoor spaces from the harsh Florida sun. Motorized retractable awnings, like those offered by SunPro Products, allow you to enjoy the sun when you want it and the shade when you need it. With a simple push of a button, you can extend or retract the awning to suit your needs. This flexibility is perfect for Florida’s ever-changing weather.

At Florida Living Outdoor, you can find a variety of awning options that blend seamlessly with your home’s architecture. Whether you’re looking to cover a small patio or a large backyard, there’s an awning solution to meet your needs. Awnings not only provide shade but also protect your outdoor furniture from fading and extend the lifespan of your patio materials.

2. Pergolas: Elegant and Permanent Shade Structures

Pergolas are ideal for creating a stylish, permanent solution to your outdoor shading needs. These structures provide partial shade, making them perfect for areas where you want to reduce sunlight without completely blocking it. Pergolas are also highly customizable, allowing you to design a space that fits your specific needs.

Azenco Outdoor offers a range of pergola designs that combine elegance with functionality. Their innovative R-BLADE pergola, available through Florida Living Outdoor, features adjustable louvers that allow you to control the amount of sunlight and airflow. Whether you're looking to create a cozy reading nook or a shaded dining area, a pergola can transform your outdoor space into a year-round retreat.

3. Retractable Screens: Flexible Protection from Sun and Insects

Retractable screens, also known as motorized screens, are a versatile solution that allows you to enjoy your outdoor spaces without the hassle of bugs or excessive sunlight. Companies like Progressive Screens offer cutting-edge motorized screens that provide protection while maintaining an unobstructed view of your surroundings.

Florida Living Outdoor specializes in installing these screens, which can be customized to fit your patio, lanai, or porch. The screens are designed to withstand Florida's weather, including strong winds, making them an excellent long-term investment. With a retractable screen, you can enjoy the best of both worlds—open-air living when you want it and a protected space when you need it.
